Whitfield, Luke & Elise

Luke and Elise are from Sycamore, IL, about 60 miles west of Chicago. They met while in college at Colorado Christian University. They have four children: Macie, 7, Emma 6, Payton 4, and Tazi, 9 months old.

They have had a heart for overseas missions for many years and have been blessed to serve together as a family for the first time here in Zambia. They arrived  in Zambia on February 4th, 2007, and are here in Zambia as career missionaries, desiring to serve Christ on the mission field as long as God allows.

Luke has a desire to teach local pastors and build up the body of believers in many ways.  He is currently working alongside the Christian Brethren Church of Kanyama in Lusaka. This includes the Emmanuel Family Home (orphanage), a school, and the Brethren Church. He attends weekly meetings with the Brethren elders and encourages and equips these leaders as they in turn lead others. He also recently has become involved with teaching a course on church leadership at a Bible school that is also within Kanayama. This entails preparing weekly lessons and also grading assignments (not Luke’s cup of tea, ha!). Elise and the kids are also involved at Kanyama, spending time with the housemothers and loving on the kids.  Elise leads a weekly women’s Bible study in Kasupe and enjoys these friendships.  She also homeschools and somehow finds a way to fit mothering in as well.
