Campground
For the vast majority of Zambia’s urban residents, there is little to no recreational access to land. In the Lusaka province, conditions in the poorest compounds are less than desirable, with temporary shelters, improper sewage, contaminated water supply, crime, noise, and pollution commonplace. In spite of these conditions, the cost of living is high and most are barely managing to put food on the table day to day. Escaping these unforgiving situations to a haven of rest is not an attainable reality.
ACTION Zambia is developing a campground that will be a place of rest and nourishment. Particular emphasis will be placed on promoting healthy church and family life. Our hope is that this camping experience will bring glory to God by creating an atmosphere conducive to reflection on God. Quality facilities and a serving staff will help facilitate a time such as this.
Initially, our goal is to develop three campground areas that will be able to accomodate fifty persons each. Plans for the first campground are underway with the construction of five chalet bunk-houses. Short-term teams will be assisting in the construction, but much more help in labor, materials and finances is still needed.
