Pastor Leadership Development

It is our conviction that God has called Action Zambia to strengthen local churches by focusing on the equipping and empowering of God-called leadership. We are praying that these leaders may carry out God’s local and global program for the church in the activities of evangelism, church establishment, leadership development and missions. Within this conviction, the Pastor Leadership Development ministry gladly embraces its responsibility to promote and integrate with all other AZ ministries whenever and wherever possible.

As we communicate the core purposes of Action Zambia’s equipping and strengthening, it is important to have a clearer picture of what this practically means.  For a moment, let us liken the local church to a tree. The church’s roots represent grounding in sound doctrine, the trunk represents godly, trained leadership, and the branches represent fruitful God-centered ministries.  Every part of the tree is important to its lasting healthiness.  Recognizing this, Pastor Leadership Development has purposed to promote the cultivation of healthy “trees” at these three levels, from root to fruit. This analogy stresses the importance and influence of Godly leadership in the life of the church.  Today, we are undertaking numerous church strengthening initiatives and the following list is a sampling of our goals.

1.  Maintain a group of up to 15 church leaders in a 3 year pastoral training course called Action Pastors College.

2. Maintain a discipleship course called 2:7 that equips and empowers up to 12 church leaders to develop a discipleship program within their own church.

3. Equip and empower church leaders for evangelism in their communities for church growth.

4. Equip and empower church leaders for evangelism among the least evangelized in rural Zambian areas with a view to church planting.

5. Provide continuing access to resources and computers for church leaders in order to enable them to study the Bible and read on wider topics. This is through the central resource centre in town and three other working satellite resource centers Kanyama, Matero, and Twin Palms Seminary.

6. Conduct pastors and leadership conferences for a wider audience to address critical needs in the churches of Lusaka.

It is our conviction that God has called us to strengthen local churches by focusing on the equipping and empowering of God-called leadership in order that they may carry out God’s local and global program for the church in the activities of evangelism, church establishment, leadership development and missions. In this conviction we also gladly embrace our responsibility to promote and integrate with all of Action Zambia’s ministries whenever and wherever possible. In addition, we want to encourage healthy partnerships with western churches.
