Conference Ministry
Action Zambia’s Pastoral Leadership Development team seeks to promote spiritual growth in the pastors and leaders involved in our programs. We have also developed a program to encourage this for a wider circle of influence in the city of Lusaka. It is the Conference ministry.
The Conference ministry is timed to involve a larger number of people during the three months of the year that the school system is in recess, a time when churches often plan special conferences. These conferences are popular and well attended. This is in the months of April, August, and December. We plan and organize five day conferences that address some of the practical issues that are especially relevant to the Zambian situation. The key issues we have identified include:
- Stewardship

- Church Leadership
- African Traditional Religion
- Peacemaker Ministry & Church Discipline
- Living By Faith in Future Grace
- Marriage & Family Life
These conferences are led in part by members of our PLD team but we also seek to bring together pastors and teachers from the West with local Zambian leaders to share teaching and preaching responsibilities. We are looking to create synergism and a greater involvement of western churches with the church in Africa.
We challenge western participants to raise the money needed for their transportation and support while they are with us. The additional expenses associated with a conference are the following:
- Tea and snacks for the participants on a daily basis for five days three times a year: $582
- Book give-a-way for each participant who attends four out of the five days: $12 per participant with 200 participants at a total of $2400 per conference. Three conferences a year at a total cost of $7,200
- Honorarium for three Zambian speakers per year at $50 per speaker: $150
- The total annual cost of the Conference Ministry: $7,932
